Theresa M. Boyle, age 71, passed away on August 2nd, 2017 after a courageous three year battle with cancer. She was born July 30th, 1946 in Steubenville to the late Howard T. and Theresa (Milano) Boyle. She moved to Kent at an early age and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1964. Following her mother's example she became an elementary school teacher graduating from Kent State University in 1968 with a Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education. She later earned her Master's Degree in elementary education and went on to earn an Educational Specialist Degree focusing on special education.

Theresa began a distinguished teaching career as a kindergarten teacher in Ravenna. She moved on to Kent State University Elementary School where she worked with severely handicapped children. She also worked with the severely handicapped at Hattie Larlham. Finally, when the Kent State University School closed, Theresa spent the final 25 years of her career working in the Crestwood schools, teaching many grade levels from pre-first grade to fifth grade. As her vocation was her avocation she ended her career teaching future educators at Hiram College, a position she enjoyed very much.

She is survived by her best friend and love of her life, David McBee of Ravenna, and dear friend, Christine Kane of Kent. She is also survived by her brother Howard (Linda) Boyle of Kent and niece Kelly (Philip) Lenge of New Jersey, and nephews Thomas (Jessica) Boyle of California and Colin Boyle (fiancée Patricia Adams) of Kent. In addition she leaves grandniece Hadley Boyle and grandnephews Theodore Boyle, Giacomo Lenge and Massimo Lenge. She also leaves the impression she made during her forty plus years of teaching on the hundreds of students she taught to read, write and to lead a good life.

Friends may call at the Bissler & Sons Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, August 6th, 2017 with a private burial service to follow Monday, August 7th, 2017. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made in Theresa's name to the educational foundation of the donor's choice.
