Mary Alice "Mitzie" Lenzo, of Kent, was born December 14, 1934 to Edward and Elizabeth Sawyer. She was the second youngest of nine children and she grew up to become a woman of great faith.

Mitzie attended Kent State University, and then went on to enjoy a career in education. Her first position was as a teacher of the hearing-impaired with the Kent Schools. She was then hired by the Lakewood School District to start their hearing-impaired education program. Mitzie met her husband Mike, through the Newman Club Campus Ministry at Kent State, and after they were married, August 1, 1959, she moved back to Kent. She taught in the Ravenna School District until they started their family, and then she became a stay at home mom. When her children were of school age, she became a substitute teacher in the Kent schools and ended her career as a Title One reading tutor.

She was a devout member of St. Patrick's Parish where she served as a cantor, CCD instructor, Eucharistic minister, lector, and sang in the choir. Mitzie volunteered at Robinson Memorial Hospital and with Birthright of Portage County. Mitzie enjoyed, baking, singing, swimming and traveling. She was generous, kind, fun and committed to spending time with her family and many friends.

Preceding her to life ever after were beloved husband of 57 years, Michael Lenzo; daughter Therese Lenzo; siblings, Margaret Kaminski, Bill Sawyer, Jane Bradfield, and Ed Sawyer.

She is survived by her sister Agnes Sawyer, and brothers Ben Sawyer, Don Sawyer, and Jim Sawyer.
