Leola "Sammy" Paterson, 92, of Stow, died Monday, August 21, 2017, at Stow Glen Retirement Center in Stow. Sammy was a sweet soul who was beloved by all who knew her. She loved to entertain and hosted many a dinner party and bridge luncheon at the house on Horning Road. She loved reading, playing cards (especially bridge), traveling, old movies, and the Cleveland Indians. But most of all she loved being with her family and friends. She was a member of the Kent United Church of Christ.

Sammy was born May 17, 1925 in Akron, MI to the late Frank and Jennie (Lauderbach) Samson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Paterson, whom she married on May 29, 1948. She is survived by her son, John Paterson of Kent; daughters, Nancy Paterson of Ravenna and Mary (Carl) Cooper of Nacogdoches, TX; grandson, Sam Paterson of Kent; granddaughter, Rosalie Paterson of San Francisco, CA; sister, Beatrice Samson of Flint, MI; and special nieces, Charlene McKeel and Pat McGee.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017, at the Kent United Church of Christ, 1400 E. Main St., Kent. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kent United Church of Christ.

The family would like to thank the staff of Stow Glen for their loving care of Sammy.
