John Joseph DiAlesandro, 90, of Kent, died Tuesday, late in the evening September 12, 2017, at Gardens of Western Reserve in Streetsboro, following his large family coming together to visit him in a gathering that became a joyful celebration of his life.

John was born March 23, 1927 to Vincenzo D'Allesandro and Louise (DiCaprio). He sailed the world with the U.S. Navy, which he joined in 1945. His 64 year marriage to Ann Ruzzo began on October 15, 1949. He was an electronic repairman at Republic Steel for 39 years, retiring in 1989.

John was a fine marksman. He also enjoyed fishing, making things grow, and photographing the natural world and the people he loved. His family fondly remembers their long vacations camping across the American West, enjoying State and National Parks and Forests. Most of all, John loved taking care of his family. His love was unconditional. He will always be loved and remembered for his quick wit, open mind, quiet compassion, and humility.

He is survived by sons, John (Renie) DiAlesandro, Mike (Wendy) DiAlesandro; daughters, Nancy DiAlesandro and Mary Anne DiAlesandro; grandchildren, Jake DiAlesandro, Angie M. (Branden) Jameson, Alessandro Brunetti, Lia Rosa Brunetti, Samantha Sparrow, Jessica Jones, Kara Jones, and by his nieces and nephew who are like his own children to him: Karen Morgan, Joan Morgan Milburn, Bob Morgan, and Barb Marinelli, along with many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann DiAlesandro; brother, Nick DiAlesandro; sister, Nancy Antonelli, and life-long friends, Jane and Bob Morgan.

John and his family are very grateful to all of the excellent, respectful, compassionate staff at the Gardens of Western Reserve who helped to make the last year of his life wonderful.

Calling hours will be held 9-10 AM Friday, September 15 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, OH. Funeral mass will be held 10:30 AM Friday, September 15 at St. Patrick. Burial will be held at Restland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcome at the Center of Hope 1034 W Main St, Ravenna, OH 44266-2708.
